It’s who you are…

“You’re a good, good, father.

It’s who you are, It’s who you are, it’s who you are

and I’m loved by you.

It’s who I am, it’s who I am, it’s who I am.”

Those lyrics by Chris Tomlin are playing in my mind this morning and my heart feels light.  Life is rarely easy – a good friend was buried yesterday, my knee aches and is going to need attention, and I brought a pile of work home last night, but my identity isn’t in any of the things I do with my hands or the circumstances I am in.  My identity is in that I am loved – loved dearly.  I wish more of the world could discover this.  I wish more of us who feel this were better at passing that love onto others.  I truly believe love is the answer.  I know it sounds trite, but I think it’s that simple.  Today I feel at peace.  I feel like the young woman in this picture.

At peace in a big world
At peace in a big world

She seems so comfortable in her aloneness.  So at peace in a great big world.  I wish I felt like this everyday, but most days I do not.  But right now, today, at this moment I do, and it is good…

My reason for starting this blog is to help us get to a good place more often.  I hope this becomes a safe place we can share our thoughts and be real.  I hope it’s a place where we find and share our hope despite the fear and angst that permeates the world in which we live – especially in this political season filled with fear and concern.  We know in the end that love wins – how can we live with that assurance every day and in the process find more peace?  May your day be filled with a love filled peace that calms your heart…
